Durham Book Club
Welcome to Durham Book Club!
Durham Book Club isn't your typical reading program - it's a year-round effort led entirely by middle school students.
It's not just about books. It's about building leaders and connecting kids through shared stories, and we hope you'll join us. While you're here, take a look around, check out what we do, and leave a note. We love to hear from you!
Join Us on October 8 for a Free Poetry Workshop with Local Poet William Davis!
Calling all Durham middle school students!
We’re so excited to invite you to a poetry writing workshop led by local poet William Davis. You may even recognize him from around town or the Farmers Market, writing poems on his vintage typewriter!
You’ll have the chance to explore your creativity, learn the art of spoken word, and craft your own poems. The workshop includes creative activities, guided poetry prompts, and a unique opportunity to share your work. No prior experience is needed—just bring your imagination!
Announcing... DBCtalks
Every fall, we select four titles for Durham middle school students to read together during the summer. Our selection process is super fun, but it's also REALLY hard. There are thousands of amazing books we want to read, hundreds we could recommend to our friends, and so many incredible authors we want to meet.
This podcast is our chance to share our book recommendations with you, but we'll also talk to authors, librarians, students, and other community members about books, reading, and writing. We hope you'll want to share this experience with us!
What's Coming Up?
So much time and so little to do!
Wait a minute. Strike that. Reverse it.
If you want to join the people who Make It Happen, check out the Student Leadership Teams. We meet regularly and we'd love to hear your ideas! If you're SO EXCITED to read the SUPER AWESOME books, sign up now and stay tuned to THIS PAGE so you can be in the know of when each meeting will be.
